Toby leads the Development Agency & Advisory team at Daniel Watney with 20 years of experience in commercial and residential-led development projects. Prior to Daniel Watney, Toby led the Residential Development Team at GL Hearn and prior to that, he was a Partner at Cushman & Wakefield and an Infantry Officer in The British Army.
With a career rooted in mixed use development advice and transactions, Toby has substantial experience across the UK, advising clients on optimal development strategy, financial viability, delivery, funding, joint ventures and transactions. His focus is devising and delivering the best strategies to add value through the development process.
He has a long track record in working alongside landowners, investors, charities, banks, reivers, local authorities, pension funds and registered providers on projects ranging from large scale town regeneration projects to small scale projects with development potential. Working alongside planning colleagues, he advises clients in strategies to reduce planning risk and achieve optimal bulk, height and massing, use class, unit mix and tenure for their project.
Toby has delivered numerous private, affordable housing and rented projects, examples of some include Luton Parkway’s regeneration (870 units), Harlow Town Centre (600 units), TfL’s regeneration of Harrow on the Hill Station (625 units), London Square, Bermondsey (405 units), The relocation of the US Embassy staff portfolio, Eagle Tower on City Road (328 units) and RAF Lakenheath Residential portfolio (534 units). Woolwich Central regeneration (840 PBSA, 400 Co-live and 90 social rent units) and Sainsbury’s Buntingford Distribution Centre (328 units).
Presently, Toby is delivering 350 PRS units on Stratford High Street and 840 PBSA, 400 Co-live and 90 social rent units in Woolwich town centre.
