About me
Richard joined the Rating Team in January 2026, bringing over three decades of specialist expertise in business rates. His experience spans a wide range of organisations and sectors, dating back to the 1990 Rating List, when the Government introduced more regular revaluations, giving him a unique perspective on the evolution of the rating system.
He began his career at the Valuation Office Agency before progressing to senior roles with RMC Aggregates, Telereal Trillium, DTZ, and Cushman & Wakefield. Over the years, Richard has advised both occupiers and landlords on complex rating matters, including industrial sites, offices, retail premises, and specialist properties. His work covers the full Check, Challenge, and Appeal process, including submissions to the Valuation and Lands Tribunals, and includes guidance on reliefs and rates mitigation strategies.
