Delivering a vibrant hotel destination in the heart of the City

Daniel Watney Partnership secured planning consent on behalf of Whitbread Plc for the redevelopment of 9–11 Angel Court, delivering a new 169-room Hub by Premier Inn in the heart of the City of London.

The site comprised two vacant office buildings that had remained unoccupied for several years. Through the pre-application process, we demonstrated to the City Corporation that neither office retention nor redevelopment was viable. The approved scheme sensitively retains the existing façades, which contribute positively to the Bank Conservation Area, while introducing a four-storey vertical extension above.

This project reflects our ongoing work advising on the repurposing of life-expired and underutilised commercial floorspace, responding to the evolving needs of urban centres beyond prime office and logistics development
