On behalf of Whitbread, Daniel Watney Partnership secured planning permission for the sensitive conversion and extension of the Grade II-listed Snow Hill Police Station in the City of London into a 219-bedroom hub by Premier Inn hotel.

The scheme retains key historic features, including the façade, entrance foyer, staircase, and Reading Room, while introducing a contemporary atrium and rear extension to meet the operational needs of a modern hotel. A curated cultural exhibit within the hotel will showcase the area’s history, including landmarks such as St Sepulchre’s Church, the Old Bailey, and Newgate Prison.

The development incorporates high-sustainability measures, including air source heat pumps, solar panels, a green roof, and provision for cycle storage, and is designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Planning consent was unanimously granted by the City of London Corporation in September 2021, adding to Whitbread’s growing portfolio of hub hotels in the Square Mile. Construction reached its topping-out milestone in early 2025, with completion anticipated later in the year.
