Daniel Watney LLP (“the Partnership”, “the company”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data.

This notice applies to all individuals applying for roles with the Partnership, whether directly or via a recruitment agency.

Personal Data Collected

We may collect and process a range of personal data about you, including but not limited to:

  • Name and contact details
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV), cover letter, and application information
  • Employment history, qualifications, and professional experience
  • Information provided during interviews or assessments
  • whether or not you have a disability for which the Partnership needs to make reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process
  • Right to work documentation and identity verification
  • Salary expectations and notice period
  • References and background check information (where applicable)
  • Any additional information you voluntarily provide

In limited circumstances, and only where relevant and lawful, we may also collect special category data, such as:

  • Equal opportunities monitoring data (e.g., gender, ethnicity – processed in anonymised form only)
  • Criminal convictions data (where required by law or for regulated roles)

Purpose and Lawful Basis for Processing

Your personal data will be processed for the purposes of:

  • Managing and administering the recruitment process
  • Assessing your suitability for a role
  • Contacting you in relation to your application
  • Maintaining records of our recruitment activity

We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place when engaging third parties.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for no longer than 12 months following the conclusion of the recruitment process, unless:

  • You are successful, in which case your data will form part of your employee record
  • You have given us explicit consent to retain your data for future opportunities
  • A longer retention period is required to comply with legal obligations or respond to legal claims

Data Transfers

Where your data is stored or processed outside the UK or European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in line with data protection law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

As a data subject, you have a number of rights. You can:

  • access and obtain a copy of your data on request;
  • require the organisation to change incorrect or incomplete data;
  • require the organisation to delete or stop processing your data, for example where the data is no longer necessary for the purposes of processing;
  • object to the processing of your data where the organisation is relying on its legitimate interests as the legal ground for processing; and
  • ask the organisation to stop processing data for a period if data is inaccurate or there is a dispute about whether or not your interests override the organisation’s legitimate grounds for processing data.
