Role Purpose:

The IT Support Technician is an integral member of our Operations team, responsible for maintaining the company's IT systems, providing timely technical support to employees, and enhancing our cybersecurity posture. This role includes troubleshooting, network administration, user support, collaboration with our external IT provider, and a significant focus on cybersecurity training and driving the company's Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications.

Experience/qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in IT support, with an understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and technology products.
  • Administration of Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Installation, configuration and support of Active Directory including group policy
  • Domain, DNS, DHCP, NAT Troubleshooting
  • Sourcing products from suppliers and liaising with vendors and partners
  • Expertise in operating systems and software applications, like Microsoft Office 365, and antivirus programs.
  • Printers and mobile devices setup
  • IP Networking, Cloud 365
  • Laptop/desktop hardware repair/replacement
  • Domain, DNS, DHCP, NAT Troubleshooting

Desirable

  • Knowledge of network principles (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi).
  • Certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+, MCP, or cybersecurity-related qualifications are advantageous.
  • Experience working with external IT service providers and managing vendor relationships.

Working Conditions

Part time office based role (3 days per week)

  • Office environment with standard working hours and occasional requirement for out-of-hours support.
  • May require lifting and transporting IT equipment.

Key Responsibilities

User Support: Provide support to address technical issues with hardware, software, and network systems, ensuring clear and effective communication with users throughout the resolution process.

External IT Provider Collaboration: Regular interaction with the external IT provider to manage the relationship, coordinating on IT initiatives to ensure alignment with business needs. Work closely with the Head of Business Operations to synchronize IT support with business objectives.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct routine maintenance of IT systems, including updates and backups. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems to the external provider as needed.

Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade IT hardware and software, adhering to company standards and user requirements.

Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of IT systems, user issues, solutions, and changes within the IT environment. Develop user guides and FAQs for employee assistance with IT-related tasks.

Training and Cybersecurity: Lead cyber security awareness training sessions for employees, promoting best practices in IT security and data management. Drive the company's efforts to achieve and maintain Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications, ensuring all systems and processes comply with these standards.

Network Support: Assist with network administration duties, including monitoring network performance, creating user accounts, and managing access permissions.

Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and procure new IT equipment and services.
