Tom is consultant to the Daniel Watney Business Rates Team. He has some forty years professional experience, and has always specialised in all aspects of rating advice.

 He is a graduate in Estate Management of London University, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Council member and past president of the Institute of Revenues, Rating, and Valuation and a committee member and past president of the Rating Surveyors' Association.

Following posts with Gerald Eve, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Strutt and Parker, he spent thirteen years in the Valuation Office, subsequently forming the niche rating practice of Dixon Rankin.

He has written and lectured widely on Rating, and is joint author of ‘'Business Rates-Your Guide'', recently published in its 2010 edition. He is an accredited mediator and is included in the Law Society's Directory of Expert Witnesses.
